844 pp. Frontis. by Lawrence; 180 engravings by Sir John Gilbert RA. Full red morroco with ornate gilt tracery and dentils; 5 raised bands with gilt flourishes and title. All edges heavily gilded. Marbled endpapers, Lower edges of covers show slight shelf-wear; superficial surface wear at hinges which are still firm and sturdy. Leaves are age-toned but supple and with clear contrast with text. A nice very readable copy. Probably published in the late 1800's.
