x, 480pp. frontis. and all steel engraved plates. Original blind-stamped cloth binding expertly and handsomely restored by G.B. Allen completely in character with original binding. Includes an account of Fremont's defence before the court-martial and reports of his principle speeches in the US Senate. Biography issued for Fremont's run for the presidency as GOP candidate after careers as publisher, soldier, and explorer. Text block has minor stains to base margins in latter portion which do not affect text or illustrations. Spine is slightly faded but titles and decoration are clear and bright. An attractive copy.
