Also two coloured fold- out maps, the first a map of the country traversed by Gordon in the campaign against The Tai-Pings; the second of the Soudan and Abyssinia. Publisher's cover in dark brown cloth with ornate gilt dragon motif. Light bumps to corners and bumps to ends of spine. Matching brown endpapers. Contemporaray gift inscription but no other, marks or faults.
